Honda CR-V OBD port location

Six generations, 2002–2024. Pick yours.

2012–2018

4th gen (RM)

Location

Lower dashboard on the passenger side (left-hand side in RHD UK vehicles), tucked up under the edge of the dash near the centre console. No cover to remove. On RHD models, the port is positioned to the left of the steering column area — look under the lower-left instrument panel trim, above the passenger footwell. The 16-pin connector faces downward and may need a torch to locate.

No diagram for this one yet. Ask for one and we'll draw it. The more requests, the sooner.

RD

Illustration — use it to know where to look.

Location

RHD (UK): driver's footwell on the LEFT-hand side — inboard of the steering column, tucked up into the corner where the underside of the dash meets the centre console trim, above and inboard of the accelerator pedal. It faces down and slightly rearward so you cannot see it from the seat; drop your head into the footwell and look up into that corner, or feel along the top edge of the trim. LHD (mainland Europe): mirrored — driver's footwell on the right-hand side of the lower dash, just left of the centre console and directly above the accelerator pedal. Same position on every trim (SE, SE Sport, SE Executive, and the facelift Sport and Executive), petrol 2.0 i-VTEC and 2.2 i-CTDi diesel alike, and unchanged by the 2005 facelift. Expect a sparsely populated connector: on a UK car only pins 4, 5, 7, 12 and 16 are wired, so if your lead reads 'no CAN' that is normal, not a fault.

OBD port location in a Honda CR-V 6th gen

6th gen (RS, JDM) 2023–2024

Right-hand-drive JDM cars: driver's side, under the lower dashboard in the right-hand footwell, up near the driver's right knee / kick-panel by the bonnet-release lever. The 16-pin socket is exposed and visible without removing any trim. Same position on petrol and e:HEV hybrid and across all JDM trims.

North American models

5th gen 2017–2022

Driver's side, under the dashboard, to the left of the steering column. Located near the driver's knee area above the dead pedal. No panel removal required.

OBD port location in a Honda CR-V 4th gen

4th gen (RM) 2012–2016

Driver's side footwell, under the dashboard to the left of the steering column, above the foot-rest area. The 16-pin OBD-II connector is accessible without removing any panels. It faces downward/angled and may require a torch to locate clearly. Same position across all trims 2012-2016.

OBD port location in a Honda CR-V RE

RE 2007–2011

Under the driver's side of the dash, to the RIGHT of the steering column (inboard side), mounted in the bottom edge of the lower dash panel directly above the accelerator pedal and short of the centre console. The 16-pin connector faces the floor, so you will not see it from the seat - put your head down into the footwell and look up past the column over the gas pedal. Every US 2007-2011 CR-V is left-hand drive and the position is the same on LX, EX, EX-L and the 2011 SE, 2WD and 4WD, either side of the 2010 facelift. Pin 7 (K-line) is the line the immobiliser unit talks on, so a lead that only wires the CAN pins will scan the engine but not reach the immobiliser.
