RHD (UK): driver's footwell at the base of the fascia on the right-hand (door) side of the steering column, tucked up behind the lower edge of the dash above the accelerator and close to the bonnet release handle, roughly where your right knee sits. Crouch at the open driver's door and look up: the 16-pin socket is clipped into a frame in the lower dash trim, facing down. If you can't see it, it has usually popped out of its frame and is hanging loose behind the trim nearer the column. Same position on 1.5 VTi-Tech and 1.0T GDi cars, pre-facelift and facelift. Not left of the column and not in the centre console.
