Illustrative — for orientation only.
Right-hand drive only — the BF was built at Broadmeadows for Australia and New Zealand and was never made in left-hand drive, so there is one position to learn. The 16-pin socket clips into the cabin fuse-panel housing in the driver's footwell, immediately outboard of the steering column at knee height, roughly an inch from the column and above the driver's right foot; the fuse panel and the bonnet-release lever alongside it are the landmarks. Same position on every BF body style — sedan, wagon, ute and cab-chassis — and on every trim from base XT through Futura, SR, Fairmont, Fairmont Ghia, XR6, XR6 Turbo, XR8 and the FPV cars.
The socket sits at the lower edge of the cabin fuse panel and can normally be reached from below with the trim in place. If it is tucked up behind the panel on the car in front of you, the fuse cover comes off by hand: pull the top edge towards you to release the upper clips, swing the cover down, then unhook the two clips along the bottom. No tools needed, and the 16-pin connector is visible as soon as the cover is clear.
