Location

RHD (UK): Driver's footwell on the outboard (door) side, to the RIGHT of the steering column, tucked up behind the lower edge of the dash just under the bonnet release handle and roughly where your right knee sits. Crouch at the open driver's door and look up above the accelerator: the 16-pin socket is clipped into a frame in the lower dash trim, facing down. It is not left of the column and not in the centre console. If it is not in its frame it has usually popped out of its clips and is hanging loose behind the trim nearer the column. LHD: mirrored, to the left of the steering column above the footrest, at the top left of the pedal box. Same position on all first-generation ZS trims (Explore, Excite, Exclusive) and on the ZS EV, which shares the dash.

ZS

Location

RHD (UK): driver's footwell, on the edge of the footwell against the driver's-side face of the centre console, low down to the left of the clutch/brake pedals. The 16-pin socket clips into a bracket on the console side facing the pedals. Same position on 5AS and Pektron cars. The ZS was only sold in right-hand drive in the UK, so no LHD position is given here.

How to access

No cover. As on the Rover 25/45 family, the socket is often clipped in the wrong way round or has dropped out of its bracket and hangs behind the console; squeeze the clips at the top and bottom and pull it out to plug in.
