Location
RHD (UK): driver's footwell, on the driver's-side face of the centre console, low down by the pedals. Sit in the driver's seat, look at the pedals and then to the left: the 16-pin socket clips into a metal bracket on the side of the console, roughly level with the back of the stereo. Same position on 5AS and Pektron cars and before and after the 2004 facelift. The ZR was only sold in right-hand drive in the UK, so no LHD position is given here.
How to access
No cover. The socket is very often clipped into its bracket the wrong way round (contacts facing into the console) or has dropped out and is hanging on its wire behind the console. Squeeze the clips at the top and bottom of the socket, pull it out of the bracket and turn it round, or plug in with it loose.
