Location
Driver's footwell under the steering column on the door side (left) of the lower dash, above the brake pedal, behind a small cap marked 'OBD'; the cabin fuse panel sits to its right behind the same lower trim. The position is the same on Leader, Trend, Limited and Trail and on van, double-cab and chassis-cab bodies. From the 2019 facelift the socket itself is a different part (the diagnostic connector is built into the gateway module) but it is still in the lower dash under the column. Motorhome conversions on the Transit chassis sometimes add a trim piece over it.
How to access
Pull-down flap marked 'OBD' in the lower dash trim under the column: hook a finger into the pull and hinge it down - no tools. The 16-pin socket is directly behind it, facing down, so use a torch rather than feeling for it from the seat. If you also need the fuse box, the whole lower panel unclips: grip the bottom edge and give it a sharp pull, keeping your fingers off the metal bar it clips to.
