Lower dash to the left of the steering column near the driver's door, behind a small cover marked OBD. Same position on hatch, estate, ST and RS, pre-facelift and facelift. ST and RS owners often unclip the socket and relocate it or splice it into a hidden connector as an anti-theft measure. If the recess is empty, follow the loom up behind the lower dash before quoting.
Pull the cover marked OBD off by hand. The socket itself is held by two side clips, so pressing both clips in (two small flat screwdrivers help) lets you push it back into the dash to route a lead or pull it forward if it has been pushed up out of sight.
