OBD port location in a Ford Explorer 4th gen

4th gen (U251) 2006–2010

Under the lower edge of the dash on the driver's side, left of the steering column, low down near the left kick panel and just above the bonnet (hood) release handle. The 16-pin connector faces down towards the floor, so kneel in the footwell and look up under the dash edge with a torch; there is no trim to remove. Same position on every 2006-2010 Explorer (XLT, Eddie Bauer, Limited, V6 and V8, 2WD and 4WD); US vehicles are left-hand drive only. Its power comes from fuse 4 in the Smart Junction Box fuse panel under the same side of the dash, so if a scan tool will not power up, check that fuse before blaming the vehicle.
