RHD (UK): driver's side, low under the dashboard immediately to the right of the steering column and above the accelerator pedal. Sit in the seat, look down past the column and you are feeling for a lilac 16-pin socket on the face of the lower dash trim, angled down and back towards you — it is not up behind the instrument cluster and not in the centre console. Same position on panel van, Kombi, Shuttle, Caravelle, Multivan and California. LHD: mirrored to the driver's side, under the steering wheel above the brake pedal. One local warning: dummy and relocated sockets are common on UK T6s as a theft deterrent. A socket with 12 V present but no CAN on pins 6 and 14 is a dummy — the live one is usually spliced into the loom further up, behind the lower footwell panel.
