RHD (Australia): driver's footwell, on the underside of the lower dash edge to the right of the steering column, directly below the small storage cubby that sits under the headlight switch, roughly in line with the accelerator pedal. The 16-pin socket faces straight down (often a purple socket) — feel along the bottom lip of the dash if you can't see it. Same position on all Mk7 and 7.5 trims including GTI and R.
