RHD (UK): driver's footwell, directly below the steering wheel and a little to the right of the column, sitting above the pedal box roughly level with the top of the accelerator. LHD: mirror image, directly below the wheel on the left of the cabin, again above the pedals. Same position on every 2K facelift body and trim — panel van, Kombi, Life and Maxi all share it, and the facelift did not move it. Worth knowing before you start: on ex-fleet, ex-utility and ex-lease vans the socket is very often found pushed back out of its cradle and cable-tied to the loom behind the trim as a crude anti-theft measure, so if the cradle is empty follow the harness back rather than assuming the socket has been cut out.
Small plastic access cover in the lower dash trim directly beneath the steering wheel. It unclips by hand — pull the lower edge towards you, no tools needed. The 16-pin connector sits in a cradle immediately behind it, angled downwards, so you are working by feel from the driver's seat unless you drop into the footwell.
