Location

RHD (UK): under the driver's side of the dash on the centre-console side of the steering column, low down and roughly in line with the pedals — put your head in the footwell, look up and inboard past the column, and the 16-pin connector is clipped into the underside of the lower dash trim. Don't confuse it with the interior junction block, which is the big fuse-and-relay unit on the outboard side of the column next to the bonnet release cable. LHD: mirror image — under the steering wheel on the centre-console side, directly above the accelerator pedal. Same position on every Splash and on the Vauxhall/Opel Agila B, on all trims, and unchanged by the July 2012 facelift.

How to access

The socket sits in a small clip-in carrier in the lower dash trim and left the factory with a push-on blanking cover over its face. Pull the cover straight off by hand — no tools. Most cars have lost it by now and the 16 pins are simply exposed. If the connector is set too deep in the trim for a bulky cable head, unclip the carrier and pull the socket down towards you on its loom rather than forcing the plug in at an angle.
