Driver's side, low under the dash, but in an unusually far-forward spot: just behind and above the bonnet (hood) release lever, roughly 3-4 inches further toward the front of the car than the typical position, sitting between the fuse-panel cover and the knee-airbag panel. The 16-pin connector faces downward and no panel needs removing, but it is tucked up out of sight — find it by reaching past the hood release, or kneel in the driver's footwell with a torch. Even smog/diagnostic techs routinely miss it because it is not where you expect. Same location across all 2014 Outback trims.
