Location

RHD (UK and Ireland): driver's footwell on the offside, tucked up under the lower edge of the dashboard immediately to the right of the steering column and above the pedals. The nearest landmarks are the fuel-filler and bonnet-release buttons on the same lower-dash panel - the socket sits just to the left of them, behind a small clip-in trim cover. The cabin fuse box is on the opposite side of the car, behind the glovebox, so do not go hunting there. LHD: the mirror image - driver's footwell, under the dash to the left of the steering column, above the pedals, behind the identical clip-in cover. The 16-pin socket faces downward and sits set back at an angle, so you reach up to plug in. Same position on every UK grade from Visia to Tekna+, and unchanged across the whole 2014-2021 run including the July 2017 facelift.

How to access

Small unmarked clip-in plastic trim cover below the steering column. Grab the bottom edge and pull it straight towards you - it is on spring clips, no screws. It is noticeably stiff on this car, stiff enough that owners routinely report not being able to find the socket at all, so expect to put some hand pressure on it; prise at the seam with a plastic trim tool rather than a screwdriver because the soft-touch panel scars instantly. The 16-pin connector is visible the moment the cover is off, but it is angled downward and set back into the dash, so a short right-angle OBD extension saves fighting a stiff tool lead.
