Nissan NATS (Nissan Anti-Theft System) / NVIS (Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System). L34 uses a BCM-integrated smart-key immobiliser with HITAG AES (NXP NCF29A1M, ID4A) transponder authentication — an upgrade over the HITAG3/ID47 used in the preceding L33 generation. The BCM stores a 28-digit PIN code; professional tools read this via OBD automatically. All programming is OBD-only — no ignition-key-insert procedure. Up to 4 smart keys can be registered. The AKL function erases all previously registered keys before writing new ones. Certain BCM numbers (284B1-4CB0A, 284B1-4CB1A, 284B1-4BA0B, 284B1-4BY1A) have a known Autel/Lonsdor caution flag and require verification before proceeding — tools will display the BCM code on-screen; if it does not match the flagged numbers, proceed normally.Add key · IntermediateAKL · Intermediate

Location

Driver's side, lower dashboard area to the left of the steering column. On the L34 (2019+), the port is tucked behind and above the lower dashboard trim panel and the knee airbag module — it is NOT visible without ducking the head under the dash. A flashlight is required. The port is accessible from beneath the panel without removing any trim; reach up and behind the lower dash fascia to feel for the 16-pin OBD2 connector. Confirmed across multiple owner reports on 2019, 2021, and 2022 Altima models.
