Driver's footwell. Reach up under the lower lip of the dashboard directly above and slightly forward of the brake pedal, tucked in towards the steering column — the 16-pin socket faces downwards and rearwards, so you find it by crouching and looking up, not from the driver's seat. It sits inboard of the small fuse-block lid on the left end of the dash; that lid is the interior fuse box, not an OBD cover, so don't waste time prising it. Same position on every North American trim (ES, SE, SEL, NOIR, GT) — trim only changes the blank switch positions on the lower panel around it. In the factory wiring this is connector C-143, sitting on the same instrument-panel harness run as the driver's knee airbag connector, which is why the airbag module is what your knuckles find first.
