RHD (UK): driver's footwell, bottom edge of the lower dash to the right of the steering column, directly under the driver's fuse panel by your right knee. The 16-pin socket faces down at the floor, so look up from the footwell with a torch. On some cars it is plugged into a slot inside the fuse panel instead, and on a few it is left unclipped and tucked behind the fuse panel and has to be pulled down. Same position on the Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid and EV, all trims.
Usually no cover: the socket hangs face-down under the fuse panel. If you can't see it, unclip the plastic fuse panel cover by hand (pull it towards you from the top edge, no tools needed). The socket is either in the slot at the bottom of the fuse panel or clipped loose behind it; pull it down to plug in.
