SMARTRA3 — fitted only on push-button-start trims for the US market. The SMARTRA3 unit communicates at 125 kHz LF with the DST-AES (Texas Instruments ID8A) transponder embedded in the smart key fob; the ECM stores a 6-digit PIN code readable via OBD by professional tools. Non-push-button-start trims (LX and base EX without the push-button upgrade) have NO immobiliser on the US market — a plain uncut HY15 blade key starts the car without any chip. This is the same US-market pattern used across Hyundai/Kia key-start trims of this era. Location

Driver side, under the lower dashboard panel to the left of the steering column. The 16-pin OBD-II connector is located inside or adjacent to the fuse box compartment; the fuse panel cover clip-panel may need to be unclipped for unobstructed access. Port faces toward the driver and is accessible without tools once the fuse cover is removed.
