Location

RHD (UK): driver's side of the lower dash, to the right of the steering column and roughly level with the driver's right knee. The 16-pin socket is clipped into a bracket at the bottom of the cabin fuse-panel recess, so the pull-off fuse lid is the landmark you are looking for, not the bonnet release, which sits further inboard and lower. On Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid cars the ESC OFF, fuel-flap release and 12V BATT RESET switches are in the little cluster immediately above the same panel. LHD: mirror image, left of the steering column in the same fuse recess. Identical on Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid and Electric, identical on every UK trim from SE up to Premium SE, and unchanged by the 2019 facelift.

How to access

Pull-off plastic fuse-panel lid with a moulded finger grip at its lower edge — it comes straight off towards you, no tools. The 16-pin connector is visible immediately at the bottom of the fuse compartment once the lid is off. Hyundai cut the aperture tight around the socket, so the lid will not go back on with a chunky VCI or a dongle plugged in. If you need it closed, the socket unclips from its bracket and pushes back a few millimetres, or run a low-profile 16-pin extension out past the lid.
