Split architecture by trim — identical pattern to prior US-market Elantra generations. SE (key-to-start) trims have NO active immobiliser on the US market; a flip key blade starts the vehicle with no transponder challenge. SEL, N Line, and Limited trims with push-button start use a SMARTRA-class smart immobiliser communicating at 125 kHz LF with the HITAG AES (6A, Texas Instruments TMS37F128) transponder embedded in the smart key fob. The ECU stores a PIN code required for all key programming on push-button-start variants. Location

Driver side, under the lower dashboard trim panel to the left of the steering column. The 16-pin OBD-II connector is below and behind the lower dash cover; the cover panel may need to be unclipped or the fuse box door opened to expose it clearly. Connector faces outward/downward.
