Location

RHD (UK): driver's footwell, tucked up under the lower edge of the dash and set well outboard, towards the base of the A-pillar and the kick panel. It faces downwards and sits close enough to the driver's right shin that a bulky connector or a plug-in dongle fouls your leg, and you cannot see it from the driver's seat — kneel outside the open driver's door and look up under the dash, or work by feel with a torch and a mirror. The 16-pin socket is exposed, with no flap or trim panel over it. Same position on every UK grade and on both bodies: SE, SR, EX, EX Style, Elegance, Advance, Advance Sport and both Crosstar grades, keyless and non-keyless alike. LHD (mainland Europe): from the driver's seat it is again on the right-hand side of the lower dash, so on a left-hand-drive car it sits inboard of the driver, towards the centre-console end of the footwell rather than out by the door — the socket does not simply mirror across with the steering wheel. Low, facing down and awkward to see on either layout.
