Driver's side (LHD, the only market this generation was sold in), under the left end of the dashboard, just above the brake/accelerator pedals to the left of the steering column. The 16-pin connector sits at the lower edge of the knee bolster and faces down/rearward toward the footwell — reach up under the dash lip and it is roughly in line with the hood-release lever. Same position on every Gen 1 trim (SL, SLE, SLT, Denali). No cover or trim panel over it; the connector is exposed once you look up under the dash edge.
