Left-hand drive only (US and Canada). Driver's footwell, on the lower left of the dash to the left of the steering column, above the pedals and towards the door - you look up under the lower dash edge from the footwell to see it; the socket is not visible from the seat. 2014-2018: Ford's DLC (connector C251) on the left side of the lower dash. 2019-2023 facelift: same area, but the 16-pin socket is now built onto the gateway module bolted under the driver's side lower dash, with a black 24-pin gateway plug on its back. Same position on cargo vans and Wagons and on XL, XLT and Titanium. On fleet vans check for a tracker, ELD or remote-start T-harness plugged in behind the socket; if the tool powers up but will not talk, unplug the add-on and retry.
