Diagnostic port location (OBD)
Illustrative — for orientation only.
Right-hand drive only. Every FG was built at Broadmeadows for Australia and New Zealand, so there is no left-hand-drive position to worry about. The 16-pin socket sits on the driver's side under the lower dashboard, below the steering column, screwed to the lower trim and facing down, close enough to reach without getting out of the seat. There is no flap over it: run your hand along the underside of the lower dash either side of the column and it is the only 16-pin connector down there. Do not confuse it with the pull-off panel on the outboard end of the dash that faces you when the driver's door is open — that is the interior fuse panel, and it matters for a different reason: fuse 27 (10 A, red) inside it feeds the diagnostic connector along with the heater module and the alarm, so a socket that gives your tool no power on an otherwise healthy car is nearly always that fuse. Same position across FG sedan, ute and wagon and on every trim from XT through XR6 Turbo, G6E Turbo and the FPV cars.
