Diagnostic port location (OBD)
Illustrative — for orientation only.
Right-hand drive only — the BA was built in Broadmeadows for Australia and New Zealand and never sold in left-hand drive, so there is one position to learn. Driver's side, low on the dash directly beneath the steering wheel and slightly outboard of the column: the white 16-pin socket is clipped into the same carrier that holds the cabin fuse panel, and it faces downwards, so you reach up under the lower edge of the dash rather than looking straight in at it. Same spot on every BA body and trim — XT, Futura, Fairmont, Fairmont Ghia, XR6, XR6 Turbo, XR8, GT, the Ute and cab-chassis range, and the BA Fairlane and LTD — and unchanged by the MkII update. Don't get caught out by the plugs tucked further inboard near the centre console: those are the factory hands-free and auxiliary audio sockets, not the diagnostic connector.
