RHD and LHD: Lower centre of the dashboard, below the climate/air-conditioning controls, roughly central rather than out by the driver's knee. Behind a small removable plastic trim panel — once that panel is off, the 16-pin socket sits just inside, angled towards the driver. Same position across all C4 II (B7) hatch and saloon trims. A handful of very early B7 cars carry the older C4 layout with the socket behind the centre-console ashtray bin, so if it is not below the climate controls, pull the ashtray/bin out and check directly behind it.
