LHD (all US cars): driver's footwell, on the door side of the steering column, tucked up under the lower edge of the dashboard directly above the footrest, near the bonnet (hood) release. It sits up out of sight from the seat — get your head down in the footwell with a torch to see it. No flap or cover. Same position on sDrive40i, xDrive40i, xDrive45e, xDrive50i and M50i. If the socket is dead, check fuse F2 (7.5 A) in the BDC fuse holder in the passenger footwell, which feeds the diagnosis socket.
