Location

RHD (UK): Driver's footwell, low under the right-hand side of the steering column, above and slightly forward of the accelerator pedal, near the bonnet-release handle. The 16-pin socket is clipped to the back edge of the driver's lower storage compartment (the knee-bolster tray), so it faces down and sits behind the lip of that tray — you can see and reach it kneeling in the footwell, but you will not spot it standing at the door. Same position on every B7 trim, saloon, Avant and Cabriolet, including S4 and RS4. LHD: Mirror image — driver's footwell, low under the left-hand side of the steering column, above the accelerator, same relationship to the bonnet release and the same lower storage tray. Do not confuse it with the fuse panel, which is behind the removable end cover on the side of the dashboard, visible only with the driver's door open.
