OBD port location in a Volkswagen Passat B7

B7 2010–2015

RHD (every UK car): driver's footwell, high up under the lower dash trim, just outboard of the steering column and directly above the pedals. The 16-pin socket faces downwards, so you will not see it sitting in the seat — open the driver's door, get down into the footwell with a torch and look up above the accelerator. Nearest landmarks are the bonnet-release lever on the outboard side of the lower dash and the fuse panel behind the snap-off cover in the driver's end of the dashboard. Same position on saloon, estate and Alltrack, and on every trim from S through Executive Style and R-Line. LHD cars are mirrored — same height and same relationship to the column, but in the left-hand footwell above the pedals.

Behind the gear lever, beside the handbrake lever on the centre console, under a small cover. Lift the cover and the 16-pin port is underneath. Position may differ between RHD (UK) and LHD cars or between trims. Check it on the car.

NMS 2012–2019

Driver's side footwell, under the dashboard, to the left of the steering column — near the driver's left knee above the dead pedal/footrest. No cover panel to remove. The connector is standard OBD-II (16-pin) and is accessible by reaching under the dash from the driver's seat.
