2020–2024

Mk5 (SA)

Illustration — use it to know where to look.

Location

Driver's footwell, under the dashboard, directly below and to the left of the steering column. Behind a small cover that hinges or clips open. Purple/black OBD-16 connector. Directly accessible without removing any trim panel. The MK5 SA is a new-generation vehicle from 2021; the OBD port location follows the same MQB-era driver's footwell convention as the wider VAG van range.

OBD port location in a Volkswagen Caddy 2K facelift

2K facelift (Mk3 facelift) 2010–2015

RHD (UK): driver's footwell, directly below the steering wheel and a little to the right of the column, sitting above the pedal box roughly level with the top of the accelerator. LHD: mirror image, directly below the wheel on the left of the cabin, again above the pedals. Same position on every 2K facelift body and trim — panel van, Kombi, Life and Maxi all share it, and the facelift did not move it. Worth knowing before you start: on ex-fleet, ex-utility and ex-lease vans the socket is very often found pushed back out of its cradle and cable-tied to the loom behind the trim as a crude anti-theft measure, so if the cradle is empty follow the harness back rather than assuming the socket has been cut out.
