LHD (US/Canada): Tesla's diagnostic connector is in the driver's footwell, built into the lower trim cover under the dash, to the left of the steering column above the pedals. It is a Sumitomo Ethernet plug on March 2020–December 2021 builds and an RJ45 Ethernet socket from December 2021; it is for Tesla Toolbox, not a scan tool. A separate 16-pin OBD-II (J1962) socket is fitted under the dash in the same footwell on some cars but not all, because it wasn't mandatory on EVs before 2024. Where it is fitted it is not DoIP-capable — never plug a DoIP OBD-to-Ethernet cable into it. Aftermarket CAN-based scan tools normally connect behind the rear of the centre console, under the rear air vent, with a Tesla adapter harness. Same positions on all first-generation Model Y trims (Standard Range, Long Range, Performance).
The driver's footwell cover is held by clips and one Torx T20 screw. The diagnostic port is mounted on the cover itself, so you can usually reach it with the cover in place from the driver's door aperture. For the rear-console CAN connector, prise off the trim panel under the rear air vent at the back of the centre console (clips only, no tools) and unplug the harness connector to fit an inline adapter.
