Location

Proprietary Tesla diagnostic connector located in the driver's side footwell cover — exposed in the upper surface of the footwell cavity. NOTE: This is NOT a standard OBD2 J1962 socket on most 2020-2024 Model Y production. Vehicles manufactured before approximately April 2024 use a proprietary multi-pin CAN-based connector requiring a Tesla-to-OBD2 adapter harness (e.g. OHP adapter cable). A secondary CAN access point is also available at the rear of the centre console, accessed by removing the lower rear panel between the front seats. This connector arrangement and location is identical to the Model 3 (2017-2023) — the two models share the same diagnostic architecture and access points.
