Driver's footwell (left-hand drive only — the MKX was never sold right-hand drive). The 16-pin connector is bolted to the underside of the lower dash panel just left of the steering column, sitting above the brake pedal and immediately to the right of the black hood-release handle; kneeling in the door aperture and looking up past the pedals puts it straight in front of you. It faces downwards and is exposed — nothing to unclip, no coin tray, no flap. Same position on every 2011–2015 MKX regardless of options, and unlike the 2016-onward car there is no gateway module sitting between the connector and the CAN bus, so the tool talks straight to the vehicle network.
