SMARTRA3 (SMARt TRansponder Antenna, 3rd generation) — present only on trims with push-button start (EX with smart key package and SX, all years 2011-2016). Conventional ignition trims (LX and base EX without smart key option) do NOT have an active immobiliser in the US market: the flip remote blade is non-transponder and does not interact with SMARTRA at all. The US market SL Sportage has no transponder chip in any key that is inserted into an ignition barrel. All immobiliser-equipped variants use a smart key proximity system with PCF7952A (ID46 / Hitag 2) embedded in the smart key fob. The 2014 facelift did not change the chip or immobiliser architecture. Note: 2016 is the final SL model year in the US; some late 2016 production used the QL body — for those, check the original fob FCC ID to confirm generation.Add key · BeginnerAKL · Beginner

Driver side, under the lower dashboard panel to the left of the steering column (LHD US market). The 16-pin OBD-II connector is located in the driver's footwell area below the steering column, near the pedal cluster. The port is accessible without removing trim panels — look under the lower dash edge in the footwell area. Confirmed for 2011-2016 SL generation by the Kia forums OBD port thread (kia-forums.com, 3G 2011-2015 Sportage section) and automotive diagnostic guides (scegliauto.com Kia Sportage SL MK3 2010-2016 OBD guide) all describing the footwell area below the steering column.
