This matches the pattern seen on US-market Hyundai/Kia siblings of the same era. 2019-2021 EX trim (push-button start): Full SMARTRA-class immobiliser using a HITAG AES 8A (Texas Instruments DST-AES, 128-bit AES) transponder embedded in the smart key fob, communicating via 125 kHz LF antenna near the start button. From 2022 model year onward, Kia standardised the engine immobiliser across ALL Forte trim levels including key-to-start variants (LX, LXS), adding a mandatory 8A transponder chip to the flip key remote. Location

Driver side, under the lower dashboard trim to the left of the steering column, near the driver's left knee. The 16-pin OBD-II connector is in the lower footwell area beneath the instrument panel; it faces outward and slightly downward. May require kneeling or using a flashlight — positioned just below and behind the crash pad cover, within approximately 12 inches of the steering column. Accessible without removing any panels.
