LHD (US/Canada): driver's footwell, low on the lower dash directly under the steering column, just above the brake pedal, at knee height. The passenger-compartment fuse panel with the BCM sits in the same lower-left dash area behind the trim, so you are working right next to it. Same place on cargo van, crew van, passenger van, cutaway and chassis cab, and unchanged between the 2015-2019 vans and the 2020-on facelift. On 2020-on vans with the small 4-inch screen the gateway module sits directly behind the socket; on 12-inch SYNC 4 and push-button vans the gateway is behind the glovebox instead. Ambulance, RV and upfitter conversions sometimes add trim over the area.
Small plastic cap in the lower dash trim under the column, usually marked 'OBD' - pull it off by hand, no tools. The 16-pin socket faces down, so use a torch rather than feeling for it. If you need to fit a splitter or Y-lead behind it, the lower panel has to come off: pull the panel under the column straight back, remove the screw behind it and the two under the outboard cup holder, then pull the lower dash panel straight out (wires attached behind).
