RHD (UK cars): driver's footwell on the right of the steering column, high up under the lower edge of the dash with the 16-pin socket facing downwards — you are looking up under the dash, not down into the carpet. The fastest landmark is the bonnet release lever: on this car the diagnostic socket and the bonnet release sit in the same lower-dash group at the outboard end, so find the release lever and the socket is alongside it. LHD: the mirror of that — driver's footwell on the left of the steering column, again high under the lower dash edge next to the bonnet release. Same position on every GE trim and on both bodies (SUV and Sportback), on 50 quattro, 55 quattro and the e-tron S, and it does not move for the 2023 Q8 e-tron facelift. Do not go hunting in the passenger footwell: that is where the cabin fuse panel lives on UK cars, and it is not where the socket is.
