Location

RHD (UK and Ireland): driver's footwell, tucked up under the lower edge of the dashboard immediately to the right of the steering column, above the pedals and behind a small clip-in plastic trim cover. The nearest landmarks are the cabin fuse-box lid and the bonnet-release lever, which sit on the same lower-dash panel. LHD: the same position mirrored - driver's footwell, under the dash to the left of the steering column, above the pedals, behind the identical clip-in cover. The 16-pin socket faces downward and sits at an angle, so you reach up to plug in. Same position on every trim from Visia through Tekna and unchanged across the whole 2014-2018 run.

How to access

Small clip-in plastic trim cover under the steering column. Prise it away at the seam by hand or with a plastic trim tool - it is on spring clips, no screws. Do not go at it with a screwdriver, the soft-touch trim marks straight away. The 16-pin connector is visible immediately behind it and sits at an angle, so a short right-angle OBD extension saves fighting a stiff tool lead.
