Location

Driver's side lower dashboard, beneath the steering column, above the brake pedal. On LHD vehicles (continental Europe) the port is under the lower left dash trim to the left of the pedals. On RHD vehicles (UK) the port mirrors to the right side of the footwell beneath and to the right of the steering column. Standard 16-pin OBD2 connector. For the fourth-generation (2021+ CMF-CD) the OBD port is in the same general dash location but key programming also requires access to the BCM via a secondary 40-pin connector located at the BCM near the fuse panel (under the glove box on RHD vehicles).

Location

Driver's side lower dashboard, beneath the steering column, above the brake pedal. On LHD vehicles (continental Europe) the port is to the left of the pedals under the lower dash trim. On RHD vehicles (UK) the port mirrors to the right side of the footwell in the same relative position beneath and to the right of the steering column. Standard 16-pin OBD2 connector, directly accessible without tool removal on most vehicles. The fuse for the datalink connector is a 10-amp fuse in position 5 of the interior fusebox on the left side of the dashboard.

CW 2007–2012

RHD (UK cars): driver's footwell, tucked up under the lower dash on the right of the steering column and directly above the pedal box, facing straight down towards the pedals. You will not find it by running a hand along the underside of the dash edge — get your head into the footwell and look up and back towards the bulkhead, roughly above the brake pedal, and it is there on the underside of the lower dash panel. LHD cars are the mirror image: same height, same downward-facing orientation, on the left of the steering column above the pedals. The position is the same on every CW trim, keyless or not, petrol or diesel. Two things catch people out on this car: the socket sits far enough back that it is invisible from a standing position, and there is a separate multi-pin harness junction clipped to the steel crossmember behind the glovebox that is regularly mistaken for the diagnostic socket — that one is not it, it has no 16-pin trapezoid shell. If the tool will not power up when you plug in, pin 16 is fed by the 10 A red fuse in position 5 of the passenger-compartment junction block, and pins 4 and 5 are body earths.

CU 2003–2006

Right-hand drive only in this market. Driver's footwell, under the right-hand end of the dash — sit in the driver's seat, look up and inboard from the pedal box and the 16-pin socket is directly above the pedals, tucked against the lower steering column and just outboard of the driver's-side junction/fuse box. The socket faces straight down and is not behind any lid, flap or labelled cover; the lower knee trim under the column is the only thing hiding it, and on a standard car you can get a plug and a jumper wire into it without dropping that trim. Same position on LS, XLS, VR and VR-X. It is a tight reach with the driver's door shut, which matters because the keyless-entry registration sequence wants the doors closed — leaning across from the passenger seat with the console lid up is the easier way to work it single-handed.
