Location

RHD (UK cars): driver's footwell, under the lower dash to the right of the steering column, directly above the accelerator pedal — about level with the driver's right knee, towards the outboard side nearest the door. The 16-pin connector sits exposed in a black plastic bracket facing rearward and slightly down, with nothing to remove. You will not see it from the seat; crouch in the door aperture and look up. LHD: the same bracket mirrored to the left of the column, above the outermost pedal — the clutch on a manual — under the small lower-dash storage bin. Same position on saloon, hatchback and station wagon and on every trim from S to LTZ. Two things worth knowing. Do not use the interior fuse box as a landmark on a European or Australian car: unlike the American Cruze it lives behind the glovebox, not at the driver's end of the dash. And these connectors are known to pop out of the retaining bracket and get pushed up behind the lower dash trim — if you cannot see it, feel further back and upward before you decide it has been removed. If a tool will not power up on the socket, check instrument-panel fuse 14 (7.5 A), which feeds it.

Asian-market models

OBD port location in a Chevrolet Cruze 2nd gen

2nd gen (J400) 2016–2019

LHD: Under the dashboard on the driver's side, to the left of the steering column, directly above the parking brake pedal area. The 16-pin connector faces downward and is immediately visible when looking up from the driver's footwell. Same location across all Cruze J400 trims (LT, LTZ, Premier).

North American models

OBD port location in a Chevrolet Cruze 1st gen

1st gen (J300) 2011–2016

LHD (US, Canada, Mexico): under the lower edge of the instrument panel, immediately left of the steering column, about level with the driver's left knee and above the dead pedal. The 16-pin connector sits in a black bracket facing down and rearward. You will not see it sitting upright in the seat, so drop your head to seat-cushion height. There is no parking-brake pedal to use as a landmark because the Cruze has a centre-console hand lever. The nearest thing to aim for is the fuse-panel end cover at the driver's end of the dash: the connector sits a hand's width inboard of it and lower down. The position is the same on the sedan in LS, LT, Eco, Diesel, LTZ and RS-package form and on the 2016 Cruze Limited. Known quirk: on some cars the connector was never clipped into its bracket at the plant, or has been pushed up behind the lower dash trim. If the bracket is empty, feel up and back behind the trim lip before you assume it has been removed. RHD: not applicable, because this record covers only North American left-hand-drive cars.
