RHD (UK): nearside, on the PASSENGER side of the cab — not the driver's side, which is where most people waste five minutes looking. It sits low down at the outboard end of the dashboard, immediately behind the pull-off plastic end panel between the dash and the passenger door aperture. Open the passenger door and work from outside the cab; it is far quicker than reaching across. Same position on Visia, Acenta, Tekna and Tekna+, and the same on panel van, crew van, chassis cab, platform cab and the factory tipper, dropside, Luton and box conversions, because they all share one dashboard moulding. LHD: the dash is not mirrored. The socket stays at the same point in the moulding, which on a left-hand-drive van puts it beside the driver, to the left of the steering wheel behind the end storage compartment under the light rotary switch, sometimes under a small cap marked 'diag'.
Pull-off plastic end panel at the outer edge of the dash — no tools needed. Grip the edge and pull it gently towards you and it unclips; opening the door first gives you the room to slide it out cleanly. The 16-pin connector is visible immediately behind it, sitting in a bracket you can unclip and draw forward to get a lead on squarely.
