Location

Passenger side of the cab, inside the central fuse and relay board that sits under the removable dashboard cover in front of the passenger seat. It is not on the driver's side and not in the driver's footwell, which is where most people waste ten minutes looking. On a UK right-hand-drive XF that puts it on the nearside, kerb side; on a left-hand-drive truck it is on the offside, in the bottom corner of the console by the passenger's feet. Same board and same position on every Euro 6 XF regardless of cab (Space Cab, Super Space Cab) or axle configuration, including 6x2 tractor units. It is a standard 16-pin socket on this generation — the round DAF 16-pin used on the XF95 and XF105 is not fitted here, so an old round-plug truck diagnostic lead is no use on this truck. Do not confuse it with the separate 16-pin ECAS air-suspension diagnostic connector sitting in the same board.

How to access

Black clip-on plastic fuse-board cover in front of the passenger seat (DAF 1835756 / 2135601, with a right-hand-drive-specific version 1835754). Pull it off at the clips by hand — no tools needed, no screws. A printed sticker on the inside face of the cover maps every fuse, relay and diagnostic connector in the board, so read that before you plug in rather than guessing between the two 16-pin sockets. The connector is reachable without removing anything else, but it is a long stretch from the driver's seat on a Space Cab — get in through the passenger door and work from that side.
