VI

Location

Low down at the left-hand end of the dashboard in both left- and right-hand drive cabs, sharing a housing with the cabin fuse board. On a UK right-hand-drive Daily that puts it on the nearside, down in the passenger footwell area rather than under the steering column; on a left-hand-drive van the same spot lands in the driver's footwell just above the pedals. Look for the 16-pin socket with the fluorescent yellow shroud tucked behind the end panel on the side of the dash that faces the door pillar. The position is the same across panel van, chassis cab, crew cab and minibus, but the trim in front of it is not: on many builds the socket hangs on a short lead and you can reach it from the floor with nothing removed, on others it sits behind a clip-off end panel, and on a small number of vehicles — mostly early chassis-cab and body-builder builds carried over from the previous cab — it is bracketed to the bulkhead behind the glovebox liner instead.

How to access

Where a cover is fitted it is the plastic end panel on the side of the dash facing the door. On most Daily VI builds there are no screws — pull it squarely towards you and the clips let go; a few have two or four cross-head screws in the same panel. The 16-pin connector is immediately visible behind it alongside the cabin fuse board. If the panel comes off and there is no socket behind it, get your head into the footwell and look up behind the glovebox liner before you start pulling more trim.

5th generation facelift (Daily V)

Location

Behind a panel at the lower left of the dashboard, from the steering wheel. The cabin fuses sit behind the same panel. Drive side isn't confirmed, so check the RHD (UK) position on the van.

How to access

Undo the four fixing screws to take the panel off. The diagnostic socket and the cabin fuses are behind it. Screw type and tool size not confirmed.

IV 2006–2011

At the outboard left-hand end of the dashboard, behind the dash-end speaker grille, sitting in line with the cabin fuse board. It is the same physical spot on both left- and right-hand-drive cabs, so on a UK right-hand-drive Daily it lands on the nearside — the passenger's end of the dash, not under the steering column — while on a left-hand-drive van the same panel sits outboard of the steering wheel towards the driver's door. The 16-pin socket is not bracketed to the dash: it hangs on a short flying lead and is usually tucked back and slightly high alongside the fuse box, which is why people stare straight into the opening and miss it. The position is the same across panel van, chassis cab, crew cab and minibus — the cab structure is common to all of them; only the body-builder trim in front of it varies.
